The Hotel

There will be a new hotel built inside of the Animal Kingdom area of the park where Avatar World will be located. It will be in the area of the park close to the front gate and have an entrance from within the park, but also another entrance that will be outside of the gates of the park.  In Avatar, the Na’vi, live in a huge tree called the Hometree.  The design of the hotel on the inside will be designed like the tree that they live in.

Since the hotel is located inside of the park, which is unlike any other hotel at Disney World, there will only be about 20 rooms. Since there will only be 20 rooms, this hotel will be more exclusive, but there is already an additional 30,469 hotel rooms on Disney’s property and 60,685 offsite hotels where people can stay.

Because Disney world is not open 24 hours a day, having a hotel inside of the park may seem like a problem, but that is why we put the hotel in a location where there is an entrance from inside the park as well as an entrance outside of the park’s gates. To enter through the door outside of the park you will need a room key, but as long as you are a hotel guest you can come and go at your leisure.

Since the movie Avatar is based on a group of people that are environmentally aware of their planet and act as one with nature, we would like to make sure our hotel is part of the Florida Green Lodging Program which is “a voluntary initiative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that designates and recognizes lodging facilities that make a commitment to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources.”6 We feel this is necessary to embrace the theme of the movie and be cautious of our carbon footprint.

Transportation

With the new addition to the park, a greater number of guests will be anticipated and to accommodate them we will be adding three more, ecofriendly shuttles for transportation to and from the hotels, airport, and park. The shuttles will run on biodiesel to help lessen CO2 emissions.

Shuttle buses will be purchased for around $50,000 a piece. Because of the biodiesel, the buses are a little more expensive to begin with, but they will be saving money in the long run. Guests who take the shuttle will be saving money as well because they will not have to pay for parking by the day with the availability of the shuttle.

At Disney, they already have a transportation schedule and with the addition to the park we will be keeping the same schedule of transportation.  All of the Resort transportation will start running an hour before the park opens and end an hour after the park closes and buses will run from resorts to downtown Disney until 2:00 AM. Prices will remain the same as well.
