The Development Team below has put together a business proposal for an eco-friendly theme park to be built into Walt Disney World. This new theme park will not only minimize environmental hazards, but recreate the world of Pandora from the film Avatar. We hope to recreate an iconic world from the film industry and engineer new technology for a more sustainable and energy efficient theme park.
The term “sustainable tourism” is at the forefront today, which is defined as tourism development that aims to avoid damage to the environment, economy and cultures. It also focuses on providing a positive experience for local people, tourism companies, and tourists themselves. Our Avatar themed park incorporates these ideals. Not only will an expansion to Walt Disney World be economically and financially attractive, but it will open up the job market and increase revenue. Company founder Walt Disney was an early advocate for environmental consciousness, calling for vigilant stewardship of natural resources years before environmental issues began to surface. Ultimately, we want Imgineers to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity, innovation, and possibility while creating new experiences for Disney guests.
This project calls for 11 acres of open space in Animal Kingdom and is estimated to take about 5 years to design and build. Overall, the cost of constructing this theme park will be about $500 million. The Walt Disney Company will license the rights from James Cameron, the film’s director, and Fox Filmed Entertainment. James Cameron, Jon Landau, and their Lightstorm Entertainment group will serve as creative consultants to help develop Pandora World.
